By Stephen Hake and John Saxon,

Saxon Math 87 is the fourth math text used in the Robinson Curriculum. Children who have successfully completed Saxon 76 or the equivalent are ready to start Saxon 87.  This book will advance the concepts learned in Saxon 76. Students will learn about addition, subtraction, and multiplication of fractions, equivalent fractions, repeating decimals, scientific notation, pi, graphing inequalities, multiplying algebraic terms, the Pythagorean Theorem, the slope-intercept form of linear equations, and more. Saxon Math uses an incremental development approach where the concepts introduced early on are practiced and reviewed constantly in later problem sets, and even later books, until they become second nature to the student. This approach works exceptionally well with the self teaching methodology of the Robinson Curriculum. It is recommended that the student learn the material on their own from reading the book and working the problems. This set includes the student text, solutions manual, and test booklet.
